My choice would be a Garrett GT28 with a larger exhaust at least 2 1/2. I agree with Dougal, the best solution if all is correct on your rig is change the turbo. Then only on spikes will it hit 15 and you will get the light showing overboost. To be honest I would limit the boost to 13. These were built to last and conservative is mr yoda's way. One thing to note, unless you increase fuel the boost will not come on early or raise above 10 psi. Then you can dial it closed and restrict the air for the wastegate, delaying the opening. This drops the boost pressure on the intake turbine side.įor fifty dollars at a ricer shop they can sell you a simple dial boost controller that goes in this rubber hose. WHen the pressure from the boost manifold is sent down there the wastegate opens and bypasses the exhaust gas around the exhaust turbine. Find the wastegate and you will see a 1/4 or so rubber hose going to it. That helps.Ī boost controller will raise the boost at the upper end, by not allowing the wastegate to open. So you need to monitor it with a pyro gauge. But it will cause EGT to be higher when you are loaded down at the high end of the power range. If you add fuel you will get more exhaust gas early on and have an earlier boost rise.
